Sail the Seven Seas Party, in Kirkland, WA
· Saturday May 31, 2008 by First Mate McGraw ·
Calling all pirates, treasure hunters and families looking to get active this summer to “Sail the Seven Seas” with Kirkland Parks! To steer you on a course to fun and fitness, attend a kick- off Pirate Party, May 31, 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., North Kirkland Community Center, 12421 103rd Avenue NE. Enjoy free entertainment, see the pirate history museum and pick up your treasure map so that you can launch into a great adventure! Captain Bogg and Salty, a well known Portland, Oregon pirate band, will perform 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Free crafts, games, face painting, and food provided! “Sail the Seven Seas” is a summer-long program that offers adventurers an opportunity to track their fun enjoying concerts, playing in parks and visiting local businesses. When your adventure comes to an end, turn in your map to receive a treasure prize. Registration is available on-line at www.kirklandparks.net (enter course #23223) or by calling 425-587-3300.
For “Sail the Seven Seas,” families will set their own course and visit designated spaces on the map to collect pirate stickers, and earn prizes. Collect three stickers and receive a halfway prize; collect seven stickers and the resident pirate at North Kirkland Community Center will relinquish the final treasure. The map is also filled with ideas to keep families busy such as organizing a neighborhood clean-up, having dinner together at least once per week, and visiting local parks to find a treasure of activities available!
“Sail the Seven Seas” is a partnership program between the City of Kirkland Parks and Community Services, Evergreen Healthcare, and King County Community Organizing Program. Kirkland Parks and Community Services Department is committed to providing recreation experiences for the entire family, promoting health and wellness, and fostering community involvement.
