Eh… what? Oh, I say. I must have dozed off.

Mr. Compton

At the Sunset Primary School.

Recently, we played a show at the Sunset Primary School. The show was interesting for us — the first show back after playing the Ghosts of Treasure Island run. We were… rusty. But fun was had onstage and off.

The most exciting thing about this show was that the kids had been studying our songs in music class. Their exceptional music teacher, Mr. Compton, had used a couple of our songs for the “Songwriting” and “Cover Versions” sections of music class.

Songwriting? Cover versions? In elementary school?

Clearly, Mr. Compton is awesome.

He’s the music teacher we all would love to have, and deserves a raise. Check out his website not only for photos of kids rocking out in class, but for the recorded versions of songs the children wrote in class. No kidding.

On a personal note, one of my closest friends went to school there when she was a smidgeon. She practiced her piece on the violin for a year, but come the night of the performance she tripped on the steps, twisted the bridge on her violin, and couldn’t perform the piece. I tried my best to redeem the stage for her, but I’m not sure if it worked.
